TGIF! As we saw this week the tourists are here and the traffic has increased tremendously. My advice, only leave the resort if you absolutely have too and do so early in the morning. On Thursday Arrow Road and Palmetto Bay Road were parking lots. Many were on those roads for a minimum of 40 minutes. Plan wisely and accordingly.

Resort Landscape Update:

New Pine Straw was installed last week throughout the resort and this week our spring flowers were installed. We have a few other locations that will have flowers added in the coming weeks.

The rain we received this past Wednesday caused Palmetto Coastal to be a day behind, and they were not able to complete the pickup of all piles as anticipated.

For the month of April mowing of individual sites will be done on Mondays and Tuesdays. The crew will only be spot mowing or using the weed eaters to cut grass down as needed.

Starting in May Palmetto Coastal will be on a Wednesday/Thursday mowing schedule. They are still working on making the schedule as smooth as possible and with little noise.

All Individual sites are blown off and mowed on Wednesday/Thursday weather permitting.

April 8th – 12th – a turf treatment will be applied to the front of sites to address the weed problem. The application they are using is safe for all humans and pets.

Trash pick up – There are days that the trash is not picked as quickly as we are used to, Palmetto Coastal crew is on duty until 3pm Monday – Friday. Please give them until 1pm to pick up your trash before calling the office and then we will follow up.

Palmetto Coastal is very receptive to feedback and wants to ensure they are providing the best service. I know that at times we get frustrated with the blowing of sites not being done properly or missed trash bags being picked up, I still want everyone to let me know when there are opportunities for improvement.

I have seen more people walking and biking throughout the resort than in the past, I have to attribute this to the fact our roadways are being swept daily. I hope everyone is noticing this and appreciating it.

Just a side note, on Easter Sunday the General Manager of Palmetto Coastal was in our resort collecting trash and training a new employee. He gave his entire regular crew off to enjoy the holiday and he came to work for our resort.

Hilton Head Island, SC – April 1, 2024 – The Town of Hilton Head Island is pleased to present its first-ever Annual Report highlighting its significant accomplishments for calendar year 2023.

“I believe as you look through this report, you will see a showcase of our community’s dynamic activities, significant progress, and notable achievements over the past year,” said Town Manager Marc Orlando. “While I am proud of the Town staff and the Town Council for all their hard work, I also want to recognize the residents and visitors. Keeping us as the #1 Island in the United States takes a collaborative effort, and I thank everyone for their unwavering support.”

This comprehensive annual report overviews milestones from finance and capital improvements to growth management and policy. It also breaks down Town financials, key performance indicators by which we measure our success, and the priorities outlined in the Town’s 2023-2025 Strategic Action Plan.

“This is a snapshot of the hundreds of hours of work that I, the Town Council, and the Town staff have put in to ensure your concerns are met and keep the Town’s projects on track and moving forward. I am very proud of our accomplishments,” said Mayor Alan Perry.

Happy Friday!

Bud Grindle and myself have been trying to locate water valves for Phase 1. Next week we will be turning off some of the valves to test if they are working. They will only be turned off for a minute or so. We want to make sure that valves work before the paving begins. The testing will be on Tuesday between 2pm and 3pm.

The upstairs Clubhouse carpet has been cleaned and the carpet stretched. Next week the room will be set back up with tables and chairs. Please do not try to move the pool table. That will be set back in place and leveled by staff.

Also in the upstairs Clubhouse, 4 pendent lights will be installed over the counter overlooking the tennis courts. The short has been repaired in the ceiling fan light. Switches are being labeled and outlets being secured that are broken.

The communication error between Hargray and the Fire Panel was resolved. When the phone lines went out, it also shorted something on the control board in the fire panel. A new panel is on order and will be installed next week. The panel is communicating if there is an emergency. The beeping will still be heard until the board is replaced.

DHEC was in today to inspect the Oasis Grill. We scored an A+.

Have a great weekend and safe travels!

*The maintenance dept can fix anything. If you need me please knock, the door bell is broken.*
