Two Palms and 1 Pine tree were removed by the pickleball courts this week. We are on the schedule to have the trees trimmed above the pickleball courts and the canopy along the roadways.

Be mindful while you are cleaning your sites, it is baby copperhead season, make sure you use gloves and closed-toed shoes.

Notice from the Town of Hilton Head

Construction work on a brand-new boardwalk at Folly Field Beach Park at 55 Starfish Drive has begun and will continue until the end of October.

The project, part of the Town of Hilton Head Island’s Capital Improvement Program, involves the demolition of the existing boardwalk that stretches from the beach park to the shore and the construction of a new boardwalk in the same location. The current boardwalk has been in place since 1991.

During the construction period, Folly Field Beach Park will be closed temporarily. Parking and access to the beach at this location will be unavailable.

The Town wants to make sure everyone can still experience the Island’s beautiful beaches. That’s why to help get your tourists and visitors who may be inconvenienced during this time, the Town is offering a free shuttle to provide alternative beach access.

The route will shuttle beachgoers from Folly Field Beach Park and surrounding areas to Driessen Beach Park between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., 7 days a week from September 23 through October 31.

We would appreciate your assistance in informing your residents, visitors, and guests about this service.

Beachgoers are also encouraged to visit other beach parks around the Island:

• Alder Lane Beach Access, 2 Woodward Avenue

• Burkes Beach Access, 60 Burkes Beach Road

• Coligny Beach Park, 1 Coligny Circle

• Driessen Beach Park, 64 Bradley Beach Road

• Fish Haul Beach Park, 124 Mitchelville Road

• Islanders Beach Park, 94 Folly Field Road

Happy Friday!

Please pay attention while driving thru the resort. Vehicle and bikes, the speed limit is 10 mph. With rentals increasing and owners returning, please be cautious.

The ice machine was down for a few days. The card reader would not establish a connection to the host. The reader has been replaced and is operational.

The lake fountain will be pulled and inspected on Monday.

Painting is still in progress on the office and mailroom.

Enjoy your weekend and safe travels.

I once worked in an upholstery shop and was injured. No worries. Now I’m fully recovered.

Fall Owner’s Week

Owners week is coming up, November 6th ~ 11th. As you may recall, based on the poll sent out, we have moved back to one official Owners Week in the Spring as required by our by-laws. This will allow us to focus much of the owners week budget on the spring meeting with a significant portion of any event costs covered wherever possible.

The poll indicated overwhelmingly to still hold a fall owners week, but one essentially organized and run by us, the owners.

We’re happy to report that the volunteer loop captains have done a superb job in gathering friends and neighbors. Coming up with some great fun events using the allotted $1,000/loop budget.

Our hope is that this owner driven owners week will not only be fun, but will create a sense of community and pride. Each event is open to all owners, but hosted by a loop. Some events are taking place in a loop, others in the clubhouse or poolside. We also have volunteers that will be hosting pickle ball & tennis tournaments, bike rides, trivia and game nights etc.

Unfortunately, we didn’t receive a volunteer for Loop #1, if someone or a group of loop #1 owners would like to jump in, please contact me and we can certainly get something on the schedule.

If there is an event you’d like to see and you’re willing to organize it, again, please reach out.

More information will follow, but attached is the tentative schedule with everything shown locked in, including the band for Saturday night. We will have registration for some of the events in order to give the captains anticipated numbers. Right now we do not see any reason to limit any numbers, we want to make all events open to as many people as want to participate.

It should be a fun week…
